Self harm reporting

Yesterday proved Plex system is broken when dealing with self harm concerns. Because there is no system in place like at all. A Streamer was having suicidal thoughts which steadily progressed to the point I was calling 911. The only thing I could give them is a Discord and Plex username. So the 911 operator tried to have me contact Plex, I get hold of a site mod to only find their hands are tied. You do not store addresses and you do not allow the site mods to be able to see IP Address.

We only needed just an IP and they would have been able to get an address off, of that. However currently the only way is by having the Developers get it. This is a fundamental core system that needs to be in place on any and every website beta or not before they even go live. As it is life over limb. 9 times out of 10 it is just a cry for attention but we wont know until we check. I do not expect Plex to be counselors or social workers but a method needs to be in place where they can call the authorities and have some kind of information in an emergency situation like this. From the little self starter websites like gamespot.com to giant platforms like Youtube/twitter/twitch. all have methods and systems in place.

This is a serious failing that needs to be addressed and addressed quickly. The Plex staff need to be equipped and given the means to help in situations likes this and know what to do. Even if it is just having the Authorities to email Plex with a subpeona to be able to get the information from Plex. Something Anything, needs to be done.

Ignorance is not an excuse at the expense of human life.
